Friday, June 11th

OHHHHH!
Cubbies are empty...,
Name tags brought home (on purpose)...,
Even the glue bottles that drove me crazy are gone.

(Look in backpacks for them and you'll maybe see how they could be a tiny bit frustrating! "Mrs. Heitke, Mrs. Heitke, Mrs. Heitke, my glue won't work!")

What a bittersweet day.

The sweet parts...successfully creating a "spiderweb" of string for our morning greeting, eating Jello Jigglers for snack (courtesy of Mrs. Heitke making the Jello and Mr. Heitke waking up early to cut them out!), and getting our first memory books!

Have a GREAT summer!

(I will be busy...teaching summer school
and getting ready for a new job next fall.
Full-time Title 1 math at Rockford
Elementary...where I went to school!)

We made wood sculptures today! (I can't, for the life of me, figure out why this won't rotate!)

Then, we got to read through and take home our finished poetry books!!! Ask to see it!

Letter Luau today!

It was a fun celebration of all the kids have learned this year about letters - their names and sounds they make. We chatted for awhile about all the progress and they loved realizing how they've grown!

Monday, June 7th

(Whew! Good thing Field Day was yesterday, not today!)

Here's some pictures I snapped. All morning kindergarteners and all first graders were out together (and my camera battery died) so I only have a few.

Here's a picture of the picture frame that Mrs. Whitcher and the kids made for me! (See the June 3rd post for more info...)

Today we experimented with sandpaper and blocks of wood! SO FUN!

Thursday, June 3rd

What a big day today was! First of all, we're nearing the end of our ABC Literature Books. We read Earthlets as Explained by Professor Xargle and then created a view of the earth from outer space!

Then, of course, it was ICE CREAM SOCIAL day! (This is our last hoorah, in place of a "graduation." Kids like ice cream better anyway...) It was SO much fun! The kids sang the songs we've been practicing so wonderfully! The ice cream sundaes were tasty! AND (the best part for me), was recieving an absolute keepsake that one of the parents put together! (Thank you again Mrs. Whitcher!) Check out our morning...
